The ban on "Legal Highs"

Today we have awoken to a new law, a law that bans "Legal Highs"

We have heard so much over the recent years about how dangerous these vaguely termed substances are. Responsible for the deaths of quite a few (although I'd encourage further research on these deaths as more often than not there are other factors involved).

The ban covers any substance that has psychoactive properties. A phrase I'll clarify by pointing out that FOOD had to be made as an exception. The ban also states the substances intention should be for human consumption. (Decided by who?)

I can't help but feel there is a slightly more sinister motive behind this ban, simply banning everything before it exists and only allowing exceptions made by current government politicians seems to be a move made more for the control of public intake than to protect the masses.

I do wonder how such a flimsy made piece of legislation can be enforced. How can our terrific police service possibly charge for an illicit substance based on the idea it might have psychoactive effects? How would they know without trying it for themselves? How would a "research chemical" labeled "not for human consumption" be taken from the hands and homes of civilians?

I am very open to be wrong on my suspicion but it doesn't matter anyway the black market will pick up the tab to those wanting to take mind altering substances....
